Prague is the capital and the largest city in the Czech Republic and is the home to about 1.3 million people, while the metropolitan area has the population of about 2.6 million people. The city was founded during the Romanesque era and prospered in the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque eras. It has been the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia, was the residence of many Holy Roman Emperors, and played a major role in European history ever since.
Prague is nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires”and is also known as the "Heart of Europe".
